Dear Muriel,

I suppose you will have been home before you receive this. I may be there myself later in the week. This morning the colonel received a wire from Ottawa fixing our departure for four p.m. on the nineteenth. So if I get leave for which I applied, I should leave Regina for Toronto in a little over a week from now.

I expect to spend tomorrow at the butts. Our battalion are to be markers tomorrow, and, as so many are on pass, the special detail men may be required. We hear that our shooting last week was five points per man in excess of the score of the next best this summer. I don't know how much truth there may be in that. I hope I get out tomorrow to see someone else at it.

Dr. Chown was the guest of the Battalion yesterday, and slept in the hospital last night. He is our Honorary Colonel.

Of course you heard of Mr. Monette's death? That is a severe loss to our Province, and will be felt by many more than those who worked under him.

a rivederci,

Shorey
