Dear Mother.-

The last time I wrote I was at the base hospital but now I am safe and sound in Blighty, and I guess the reason for that there was so many at the base that they had to get room for more. We arrived in hospital about three oclock this morning after having a fine trip across. There was some class to us as King George had just crossed at the same time as we did. The country around here looks very nice but do not know what kind of places there are around here as I think the nearest town is out of bounds but can get a pass to it but will learn the ropes before long. At the base they marked me chronic gastritis, but the doctor (an elderly civilian) has me marked gastric.s.appendix, and if I have what all the different doctors say it is it's a wonder how many things a fellow can get. Do no get anxious because am able to get up and get around but do not seem to improve very much but seem to just keep about the same. I feel pretty good for a couple of days then for a couple more do not seem to be up to very much. Of course do not know what kind of treatment I will be getting. My address for the time being will be - Norfolk War Hospital, Ward 16, Thorpe, Norwich, Eng. A few days ago I wrote to the unit to have my mail sent to the base hospital but suppose it will be some time before I will get any now. Before I left the rest station the doctor wanted to send me back to work but told him that I did not think I would be able to carry on. I took another look at my sheet and he has it marked gastric trouble ? appendix so I guess they hardly know what is really wrong with me. For some reason or other do not seem to be able to settle down and write a letter, but will let you know how I keep on progressing. Hoping this finds everybody well.

Love to all

Your loving son

Gordon
