Dear Mother in-Law

I write these few lines hoping to find you well, as it leave me at present, you will find a card enclosed in this letter, which I thought you would like, seeing that it comes from the front, I would tell you just what town it is from only we are not allowed to, but I will be able to tell you all about it, when I get home again, say while we are having dinner, nice potato pie, and current pudding. I almost forgot what they look like, there are no places here where a person can get anything of the kind, or anything else scarcely worth eating, no cakes or buns. All we can get her is biscuits, three a penny (very small and coffee (very strong) penny a cup, or rather, ten centimes, which is the equivalent of a penny, wand I tell you it is not very appetizing, but never mind, Ill make up for it, when I get back, you bet well I guess I close my letter now so ta-ta from your Affectionate Son-in Law Herbert
