Letter

  Dear Miss Munroe –
It was with deep regret I learned of your sad bereavement – and wish to express my sincere sympathy for you in your sorrow.
Mingled with your sorrow there must be a feeling of pride that your friend gave his life for such a noble cause, and you have the consolation of knowing that "Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for another". I know you will be given strength to "carry on" as a good soldier and to take up your cross and carry it with unswerving faith in One who has promised never to leave us Comfortless.
With sincere sympathy,
 I am
Yours sincerely
