March 14, 1917 Dear Jessie Still here, and in the old resort the Y.M.C.A. hut and sitting at the same table is Awbry Bell. He is writing home also as this is home writing night. There is the usual concert on here tonight so this is apt to be short and to the point. There is not much doing but drill these days. I had a chance to take a machine gun course of three months but I want to see France first and these others next. I have been on first aid work all this week. I could almost put a man together as easy as a machine gun now. We learn how to tear a man to pieces in the forenoon and how to put him together again in the afternoon. I saw Rattray this afternoon. He was on our parade grounds but as I was on parade I could not get a chance to speak to him. I haven't had any mail since I came here two weeks ago. I heard that the Canadian mails were only to be brought over every two weeks in future and were to be convoyed across. That will make the weeks seem long but we should get a good bunch when it does come. The concert is over and its time to go home so ta ta. Yours lovingly Rae
