Dear Dad,

I really should have written Mir this time, as I will write the four of you in succession, now, but I wanted to send these pictures home. You will notice there is a difference in the surface of the paper, a pair of each, for home and Nert, and an extra one for Mrs Chas. Thomson. She asked some time ago, for one. I think this the better of the two, and will send a few of them to the relatives at Christmas.

I have more letters now, sent around Oct 15th also one with Nert’s postal order. Cable arrived OK. and I banked it, as I will need a little cash when I am sent over, for comforts etc.

I got a swell book for Floss and will send it home addressed to Nert, to forward for me. It is about 6x9″, antique leather cover, with Shakespeare in relief, in the centre, rough edge paper, “English Kings” from Shakespeare, 10/6. It would sell for about $500 at home, I would say and is quite nice.

Say, I have just had an idea, as soon as this book arrives, open it, I will enclose outside the wrapper (of book) the shots I was going to send with this, and some booklets I have been going to send home. The photos will carry much better and will not get torn. Since I started to write this I have sold 7/- worth of prints, not bad for a few minutes business.

I am sending a few of the new stamps that I have gathered up, to put with what you get.

That is some new government, and should ensure Borden’s future, and help to settle the French question.

You appear to be doing a good business in general lines, and especially in bracelet watches. When the first of Nov. came this year, I surely longed to get my hands into the jewelery again. Don’t expect tho, that I will get there for next Nov. even, unless I am able to get a pretty good “Blighty,” as soon as I land in France.

What class is “D”? Here it is a question whether a “D” man will be fit for France again or not, and they put them thro a training, which will either make or break them. Kim is a darn fool not to apply for exemption, unless, he will be employed as a chemist, which would be O.K. for him.

You are doing very well with Auto-Strops, keep it up. Of course some will demand the Gilette, and it is well to carry them on hand. Three different kinds, then you can order singles to fill in, as they sell. It is not half the razor the Auto. is tho. Keep the “ivory” sets out of the window, as I believe, the sun and light warps them.

I don’t think you will have much trouble collecting for engraving, and the money you will be able to make on the work you do get will repay what little you lose. I don’t think I will ever be able to engrave again, my fingers are losing their sensitiveness. The other prices all round are perfectly good.

The Duke of Connaught is coming over to see us, this afternoon so I will get my desk straightened up.

Your affectionate son,
Worth.
