Dear Dad,
Not very much now, as we are busy, but I must get a letter to you, it is nearly a week since I last wrote. I won’t have as much opportunity for writing & will likely always write home, instead of to the girls. You no doubt have more news than we have, but so far our front is solid, and always will be. By the time you get this letter, I believe the war will be won, altho peace may take a long time.
We are jake here, so don’t worry at all. I have good reason to believe that Van is within twenty miles, and with a unit that I came over on the boat with. There is no chance of seeing him tho, as it is too busy.
I am enclosing my original card, which was brought over from London, as it was going to the incinerator.
I bought another watch a week ago, mine has been giving me a little trouble, as the last time it was repaired the centre was not properly oiled. I got a Zenith, about 18 size, nickle case, 15T with alarm and full luminous. It is of the repeater type, going around inside of case, tin barrels & small escpt., a very fine one, cost 100 francs, which is under $200, & not bad under present conditions. I hope someday you will be able to appreciate this, for I have never seen anything quite as nice over these. I think the line better than Elbico, the plates are brass, but construction thoroughly good.
Be brave, all of you, as now is the time of the big effort, it will soon be all over.
Love to mother & the girls, will try to write again soon.
Your affectionate son,
Worth.
