Dear Nert,

I am really behind with my correspondence, I know, and my diary is a little out of date too. I will have to skip some days now. I have been terribly busy lately, there are only two of us on the ward which once had four, and always three. It is simply impossible to keep the floors clean and the walls whitewashed etc. I am “fed up” and hope we will soon be called to Seaford. They have orders to enlarge we hear. Am trying to make the best of it tho.

I had quite an agreeable surprise yesterday. I was hurrying thro the hall to do a dressing when a patient – as soon as a patient enters hospital, his uniform is taken from him and he issued with a blue, or bluish grey suit – stopped me and asked where the barber shop was. I told him and turned to go on, when he said “Hello Worth.” I came back and took a good look at him and here it was Guy Hicks. We shook hands and had a little chat, then I went to see him for a few minutes before dinner and he came down and talked to me, while I was washing the dishes. He may require a minor operation, and will likely be around for two or three weeks. We were sure glad to see each other.

Say, have get Gert Bosworth’s address from Hazel Mac. I thought I copied it, but find I omitted the number on Bay Street.

I was very glad to get a letter from Mother, you, (Nov 23) and from Ada and Bill Laur to-day. I get mail about three times a week now, sometimes oftener. These and the shows we see, are about the only bright spots. Last night, we saw “The Man Who Stayed at Home.” Real good, a German spy play.

I am getting terribly behind with my correspondence, I have three of yours to answer. Sorry the films of the prints, I enclose, are the only good ones from a pack. The others were not exposed long enough. These give you an idea where we are. After you have all seen them, forward to Floss. I will send films after I get prints for the boys. Please preserve the films, better put them in the safe at the store. I wonder if I sent both home and Miriam, one of my photos. I either got seven, or forgot to enclose one to someone. Isn’t the “moonlight” a peach. Taken in the middle of the afternoon, small stop.

I have so far, none of the parcels, since the underware. Be sure to sew them up well and wrap again with something, putting address on box and all wrappers. Sometimes the outer wrapper is nearly all torn off. I think that windowshade cloth best, but suppose can’t always have enough of it.

My “slicker” was ordered off the other day, so I will have to be careful where I wear it. I really need my great coat now tho, as it is rather cool.

Sorry your toe has bothered you. Mine will some day too, but it will just mean a week’s rest, so I should worry.

I had to have London issue another money order, payable here but got the money all right.

My cold (the second) is very much better, but my voice is very bad. Poor Sinden is very sick again to-day, I doubt if he will live overnight. I only heard since coming down town. Altho he is very close to my ward, I am so busy that I have only seen him a couple of times. Last time I saw him, he was fine, I gave him a couple of Observers. I sent five dozen cards away, so did it up right. Perhaps it is just as well that the order was doubled. I sent them to even the telephone girls, but they were always so nice to me, that I felt I should.

Glad you enjoyed your stay in Exeter. Believe I would enjoy even Monkton after this, but don’t think I will want to see England again, till I am fifty.

Hope you make a success of the sox as I may need quite a few in the next seven or eight years.

Say Kid, have you forgotten your Geo. How can you call on anyone in Clinton, on your way home from C4th. Eh?

Well Kid this is not very much news now but will try to send more next time.

Lovingly,
Worth.
