Who returned recently from duty for 30 days’ leave, during which time he hopes to visit some of his old friends here. Born in Courtenay, he attended public school there and was graduated from Victoria High School in 1940. Enlisting in the RCAF ground crew in 1941, and remustering for air crew in 1942, he has completed a tour of operations overseas during which he won the D.F.M. and was forced to abandon the heavy bomber of which he was pilot when it was badly damaged on the eve of “D”Day.
