Dearest Mother.

Havent much to tell you this time with the exception of acknowledging your parcel #2 and letter together with Agnes' dated Oct 5. Which I will answer as soon as possible.

You will have seen by the papers where we are, and Orvil and I expect to take an afternoon off and go to some of the places we used to know.

Was glad to hear Allen Lynch had called and stayed for tea. I knew you would like him like everyone else that runs across him. Hope he didn't tell you too much about the war for I suppose you'll begin to worry again after all the times Ive told you not to.

Was up to see my old pals in the battery the other day who were all as cheerful and happy as ever. I got Neil Kiirkpatricks address in Germany and I will be glad to forego my next parcel if you will send it to him. His address is
83404 BDR Neil Kirkpatrick
Gefangenenlager
Dulman 1
Westphalia Group 3 16a
Germany
On after thought I believe I have some money around home somewhere which you can use to the extend of $350 for this. Please send lots of cigarettes. No tin boxes of any kind.

Perhaps it would be best to make two or even three parcels out of this and send them at two to three weeks interval which will just increase by that many times his chances of getting them or at least part of them. If you have any doubt as to what cannot be sent the Post Office will know and will give you instructions.

Must close now Mother with kindest love to you all

Your loving son

John
