My dear Alice,

It was a delightful surprise to get your letter - Thank you for all your good wishes - & I in my turn send you every possible good wish for the coming year. Health for you both - Peace for us all - & in its train Prosperity.

I'm glad you have your Arthur safe in England - He will find it dull & be fidgetting to be off - but you will have an easy mind on his behalf. I hope to see Aunt Anna this week - on my way north. Having now a satisfactory household & good nurse for my old aunt - I came down here to lend a helping hand during the Christmas rush.

This is the Neath Section of the 3rd Western General Mil. Hosp. & my old Matron & Home sisters are in charge. They are very short-handed - & the one who is acting as Home Sister is not very fit & is very tired & overworked So I'm helping her a bit. The one who is Matron here has just been awarded the R.R.C. & the others been mentioned in dispatches.

They fully deserve it for they have worked "like blacks" - or rather much harder than blacks ever work.

I will write again when I return to Southport & give you news of Aunt A. for indeed her letters are not easy to read.

Excuse this fearful scrawl it is late & I'm half asleep

Love and good wishes to you both from

Katharine Glover

P.S. I echo Arthur's good wish that we three will one day meet again - if not in Aunt Anna's "Dugout" then elsewhere.
