France,
June 24, 1917.

Dear Mother,

It is some time since I last wrote you, but we are fearfully busy every minute of the day. Your letters are arriving quite regularly.

This last week has been quite wet – in fact we’ve had a soaking most every day. Well, the rain will do a lot of good, and this warm weather we rather welcome it,

Yesterday was a big day here. We held our 2nd Divisional Sports. The day was fine, everything went well, and the programme was excellent. The sports were largely attended by the “brass hats”. We had there – 3 Major generals and 4 Brigadier generals besides Colonels, Majors etc.

To-day has been a most beautiful day, but we are right in the middle of getting our men ready for a big inspection. Besides holding down many other jobs, I’m back at the old business of 2nd in Command of “C” Company.

Last night I received a parcel of 17 pr of socks from the 57th I.O.D.E. I distributed them to P’boro boys. They’ll be quite welcome.

I haven’t very much to say this time for we never have any news over here, and routine is tiresome. So, goodbye for this time, Mother dear.

Your loving son,
Grant Mowat.
