My Dear Miriam,

I fully intended having a little walk to take some pictures in the country, but the afternoon is most threatening, and I think I had better get some of my letters answered.

Now I have what I consider, and hope you all will consider, good news. I have been warned for the front, but other than this, I can give you absolutely no information. I will be as well off as I am now and in a short time, expect it will be very much better for me. Of course, this depends on my work etc. I will still be on Q.M. work, so there is no need to worry, I will be fixed up O.K.

The inspectors landed in again yesterday and found things in altogether different condition from last time. They greatly complemented us on the condition of books, etc. The Lieut, saw the O.C. about my case as he recommended me for promotion a month ago. It did not nor would not materialize here. It will be months coming anyway.

I will send home all my belonging gradually, as I will not send my camera till the last minute, as I have a couple of dozen plates to use up. If I send any light sensitive material, I will mark it as such. All this stuff, should be put in a cool but dry place, as I want it again. The lenses I will send by reg. mail and would like them put in the safe, as they are worth a few pounds.

Things around here are just about the same, having a rather good time, and have a dandy little girl down town, whom I will hate to leave. We went to a good play, last night, “The Better ’Ole” it is taken from “Fragments from France”. It was sure a good laugh.

I expect you to pass this on to Nert, and then home, it is rather a rotten letter, I know, but you can understand that everything will be at rather high tension for the next couple of weeks. My letters may even be rather scarce, as I will have tons of work to do. I will however be able I guess to drop a line.

Remember, when I ask for rolls from Spencee, it is 2 ¼ x 2 ¼ that I want. Don’t forget this. Also Nerta, from this date, discontinue money orders, till further notice. I will have to find out where I land, so I will be able to have it in the proper money of the country. Also by all means, don’t let either of the town papers publish the fact that I expect to move, or anything of this kind, as it is absolutely contrary to all orders. I have this day, been sworn to secrecy, so cannot tell you what little I do know. I hope my £10./-/- arrives from home, via London, before I leave, as I will likely need it. I will have several things to buy of course.

Lovingly,
Worth.

Dearies:–
This came to-day. Also your letter, many thanks for it and contents.
Heaps of love. Hope Dad is better

[Additional note added by Mother”:]
Dear Nerta –
Just recd. this – So the last straw is broken, but we can and must manage and be thankful dad is so much better and that Worth’s lot is so good. Dad at store all day yesterday and this A.M. The last cable for money – evidently nes for money to go over seas is likely the money – He wrote to the bank and for some time ago had not arrived – write to him at once. For I have not been writing regularly, but wrote Monday and will to night again. I have another letter written on the 14th which I will send you after I answer it. I would cable him dad is better but feel there is no use, until I get a letter written after the 22nd that being the date he cabled last  Hope you had good luck with exams. Send the last letter I sent you, to Miriam so she has one she ought to send you Ask first if she has not sent it Trust you are well as I am
