Dearest Arfa:

It was so nice to get your sweet letter and all the pretty things you said. Mrs Ross has had her operation and has come out of it splendidly. She is very weak but bright and cheerful and is recovering very quickly. I think she will be only a week in the hospital.

It seems very natural for me to be running the house again with Wing second in command. Herbert is very good but it is a constant surprise to me how many don'ts a good child can do with. He is so obedient though that he isn't much trouble. He go up to see Mrs Ross every day and take her fruit or flowers.

I see by the Minnedosa Tribune that Darcy Gill has been killed at the Front. This war is terrible isn't it. The news apparently came from Ralph Pearson who is still in good form himself. Mrs George was telling me that Mr Simpson has been wounded but only slightly. It must be almost a comfort to relatives to hear they are wounded for it means they will be out of the fray for a while anyway.

I have been to see Muriel and her husband and it is certainly love's young dream with a vengeance. They are devoted to one another and Muriel won't even let him go down town without her. She is much improved, more considerate for the others, and converses in quite an interesting way. Her husband is a very nice sort of chap, much nicer than I expected and they all like him immensely. Muriel is surrounded with pretty things, dresses galore and furs and etceteras. It promises to be a happy ever after marriage and the Pete's[?] are very pleased with it. I must close now dearie. I am taking lectures on Home Nursing and they are very interesting and much more difficult than First Aid. do write again another long interesting letter, I love every word of it. With love and kisses from your loving
